O Comic Con Delicious Brunch O's

New Year, New Guests

Good morning and Happy New Year to you, newsletter subscribers! We're starting our first newsletter of the year with a guest announcement that's sure to please even the biggest "grouches": O Comic Con is delighted to welcome Caroll Spinney to our 2017 event.

Last year, we were joined by Bob McGrath and Emilio Delgado, two other longtime Sesame Street family members. Seeing attendees respond to those two public television icons made us determined to repeat the experience this year. Inviting Caroll was the perfect way to continue celebrating the legacy of this influential show.

Stay tuned for more guest announcements. As we settle into the new year, we will be updating our website with this year's comics and cosplay guests. 2017 is taking shape, and we can't wait to see the finished result.

All That's Missing ... Is U

Just when I think we can't get any more shameless in my pun usage, THERE I GO AGAIN. Sorry, everyone. Sooooo sorry.

Conventions require a diverse lot of elements to run smoothly-- and a lot of coordination. Most conventions, OCC included, rely on event volunteers who help support staff and attendees. If you're the type of person who enjoys reacting to a changing environment, helping others, and problem solving, you ought to consider applying to volunteer at O Comic Con. It's a fun and rewarding experience, particularly if you like working while chatting with smart, funny, creative people.

We're looking for friendly, mature, professional volunteers for a variety of tasks. Attend for free; make friends; learn cool stuff. How about it?

Introducing Merchant Mondays (and a Vendors Update)

Someone please explain to me why so many stock photos of "shopping" are of a cat pushing a shopping basket. Don't get me wrong; I'm delighted that that is the case. Who started this trend, so that I may shake their hand and tell them "Well done"? Annnnyway.

We are so happy with the response from vendors and artists for our 2017 Arena floor. We're close to 40% sold, which is great for the first month of sales. We only share this update to remind anyone who is considered purchasing vendor space that our corner booths are selling out rapidly-- so if you're interested in selling with us, please visit our vendors' site and make sure you snag your space.

We'd also like to announce a new feature on our social media and website: Merchant Monday will be an opportunity for attendees to get a preview of the kinds of stuff you'll see on the Arena floor. Each week, we'll be highlighting a number of vendors. Start stuffing your piggy bank: there's going to be great stuff for sale.

And that's it for this edition. Now that we're in 2017, our newsletter will resume its normal biweekly schedule. So I'll see you kids on the flippy floppy (by which I mean: I'll see you right back here on Saturday, January 21st.
